Course Description: You will be taking the next steps in
using technology in your classroom with the most up-to-date Web
2.0 tools. These tools include podcasts, wikis, blogs,
voice thread, and RSS. You will have an opportunity to
create a wiki that your students will be able to use during the
next school year. You will also create a simple podcast
using Audcacity and create a blog to facilitate discussions with
your students. Web 2.0 tools are fun and exciting tools to
use for you and your students.

Course Description:
Using
technology to communicate, collaborate, gather
information and learn has become standard practice
today. Technology is a new literacy skill that
students and educators need to understand and
practice. In this course participants develop
literacy for the Read/Write Web (Web 2.0), and
design a project based unit/lesson plan using these
tools. Emphasis will be on free or low cost
resources that are classroom tested, easily
available, engaging for students and appropriate for
the K-12 world.

This course will
expose students to a range of Web 2.0 applications
including blogs, wikis, podcasts with the program
Audacity, RSS feeds, social bookmarking, and image
sharing. Discussion and reflection on how to and ways
to implement these technologies for K-12 student
collaboration and creativity are important elements of
the course.

Course Description: Course will center on becoming competent in
the most current versions of Kidspiration, Inspiration, and
InspireData software as tools for teaching. Class members will
review and evaluate best practices in using the computer to
teach content, process, and assessment in reading and math from
grades K - 8. Participants will focus on using the above
software as a tool to promote critical thinking skills.
Participants will explore online resources to supplement math
and reading curriculum and create a portfolio of projects and
hyperlinks for future use. Student projects will include the
creation of a variety of original math and reading templates for
use in the classroom.

Inspiring Ideas, a series of professional
development seminars for educators. Six contemporary
topics include Bioethics, Outdoor
Education, Global Studies, Mindfulness
in Education, Media Literacy, and the
U.S. Congress.
