Mrs. Sarah Marinaro

My name is Mrs. Marinaro, and I am the 6A homeroom teacher at Saint Ursula School.  I teach reading and religion to 6A; math to Group 1, the Blue Group, and the Gold Group; and Spanish to 8-1 and the second grade.  I am also the co-moderator of the Student Council.

I attended St. Ursula School from kindergarten through eighth grade (I was in the first kindergarten class!). Teachers that I had that you may know include Mrs. Delozier, Mrs. O'Keefe, Miss Culotta, Mrs. Riesett, Miss Hartman, Mrs. Deinlein, and Mrs. Barry.  While at St. Ursula, I was a safety, an altar server, a lector, and a member of the National Junior Honor Society.  After graduating in 1996, I then went on to The Catholic High School of Baltimore, where I was involved in the band, the National Honor Society, forensics (public speaking), and the Spanish Honor Society and club.  I graduated from Catholic High in 2000 at the top of my class.

The next stop on my educational journey was the College of Notre Dame of Maryland.  I began as a double-major in Spanish and math, but I eventually changed to a Spanish major and math minor.  During my undergraduate years, I developed a close relationship with the professors in Notre Dame's International Center.  As a result of this, I did a two-week study tour to Cuba in January 2002; I lived for a semester in Alcalá de Henares, Spain, during the Fall of 2002; and I assisted my advisor on a two-week submersion program in Cuernavaca, Mexico, in January of 2004.  I graduated with a Bachelor of Arts in Spanish in May 2004.

Not quite willing to leave Notre Dame yet, I continued my education there as a graduate student in the Master of Arts in Teaching program.  I did this full-time for slightly over a year until receiving my degree in August 2005.  I remain active at CND as a member of the Alumnae Admissions Network.

I began teaching at St. Ursula School in September 2005.  I hope to be at St. Ursula's for many years to come!

In my spare time (I believe that's called "summer"), I love to read, especially the Sue Grafton series, Jude Deveraux, Monk, Sharyn McCrumb, and Gone with the Wind.  I also love watching movies, especially romantic comedies, suspense, and classics (guess what my favorite is).  My favorite TV series include "How I Met Your Mother," "Scrubs," "The Office," and "Days of Our Lives."  Other hobbies of mine include gardening, sewing, doing jigsaw puzzles, and playing with my three cats.
