cutecolorsfish8.gifForms

In the SUS folder, please find the forms that must be filled out and returned to school in your child's folder by  Friday Sept. 11th.

cutecolorsfish8.gifStudent Handbook

Please review the student handbook carefully regarding St. Ursula's policies and procedures. Remember to sign the back page ( actually a few pages before the back page) and return it in your child's folder by Friday the 11th.

cutecolorsfish8.gifSUS Folder

Please check the SUS folder daily, as there will often be important information from the office that will need to be returned.  It is important that the folder be returned each day to school. ALL money must be in a sealed envelope labeled with your child's name and it's purpose.

 cutecolorsfish8.gifScholastic Book Orders

We will be ordering from the Scholastic Book Club frequently throughout the year. Each month I will send home an order form in your child's folder along with the book descriptions. It is a nice opportunity to shop for your child's specific interests, increase your home library and do something nice for the classroom.  We receive bonus points for our order that can be "cashed" in for nice additions to our classroom. Please remember that all forms and money must be labeled with your child's name.

cutecolorsfish8.gifSTAND

If you and/or a family member anticipate being an active participant during school activities this year, you must be STAND approved. Please refer to the school calendar for upcoming dates and locations for this training at SUS. This is a requirement from the Archdiocese. Click the link below to see upcoming dates and locations at area schools.

 cutecolorsfish8.gifPre-Paid Snack

The children have a short snack time each day. The only snack allowed is the pre-paid snack available for purchase through the school. If you plan to purchase the snack for your child, it is important that you fill out the form and return it with the money by Friday Sept. 11th. Snacks will begin Monday, Sept. 14th. There is an opportunity to purchase snacks twice a year. Anyone who has not paid for a snack will not receive one.

 cutecolorsfish8.gifParties

Parties are not allowed in the classroom. If you wish to send in a birthday treat for your child to share with the class, you may do so with advanced notice. The "treat" will be shared with the class at lunchtime. If you plan to send in party invitations, please remember that an invitation must go to every child. If you do not wish to invite all students in 1B, please distribute invitations outside of classroom time.

cutecolorsfish8.gifWorkbooks/Copybooks

During the first days of school, your child will bring home his/her workbooks/notebooks/clip folders & SUS folder. Please cover them with clear contact paper to protect them for the year. All books should be covered by Monday September 21st.  The Religion book belongs to the school and is not to be written in.  I encourage the children to efficiently use the space in their copybook.

cutecolorsfish8.gifRestroom Etiquette

Please review with your child how to behave while using the restroom, i.e. washing hands, throwing paper towels away, and using the facilities properly. We will also review during the first days of school.

cutecolorsfish8.gifCommunication

I will post messages once a week or more to keep you abreast of happenings in our 1B classroom. Please check the 1B bulletin board frequently throughout the week for these important updates. I rely heavily on the bulletin board to communicate with you. You can access the bulletin board from the Homework site.

 cutecolorsfish8.gifMiscellaneous

The  children should not bring toys, pencil sharpeners, pens or other distractions to school. Small toys are allowed to be brought to school in their lunchbox for play at recess. If it doesn't fit in the lunchbox, its not appropriate to come to school. Items that provide a distraction during class will be confiscated and sent home.

cutecolorsfish8.gif Labeling

It is important that all items that come to school with your child are labeled with his/her name. Sweaters, PE sweatshirts, backpacks, books and even lunchboxes can look enough alike that the children cannot tell them apart.  Labeling the items can prevent the anxiety that accompanies a mix-up.

cutecolorsfish8.gifYes/No slips

Some time over the course of the year I will send home yes/no slips from the magazine Highlights. Please indicate yes or no on the slip and return it to school. If you wish to subscribe to the magazine, it will ask you for more information. If you do not, please check "no" and return the slip to school. Even "no" responses can earn free gifts for the classroom.

cutecolorsfish8.gif"I need more practice" memo

From time to time I may find that your child may need a bit more practice with a concept or activity that we have worked on in class. I will send a note home to you indicating the difficulty and some practice problems or examples for you to work on with your child to be completed for the next day. This memo is in no way meant to alarm you and it shouldn't. Often,  a child just needs a few more practice items to master the concept.
