St. Ursula School

May 7 , 2008

We have received word from the church office that a  number of school families (50+) that chose parishioner plans A or B have not fulfilled their responsibility that goes with the choice.  (see handbook page 20) This matter needs to be taken care of before tuition bills are sent out in several weeks.

Book bills were sent out recently.  If you did not receive yours, you can find it on the web page.  The Policy and Planning committee prepared an informational paper concerning the State Textbook allowance and other important legislative matters that we have been involved in over the years.  Although the amount of money allowed for textbooks over the years has dwindled from the original $60 the allowance still helps.  This year collectively parents were allowed $29, which totaled to $21,088.93.  This week we ordered books amounting to $21,087.59.  Please read the sheet so you will know the history and also see the importance to stay involved.  It is coming home today.

Our new service hour cards will not be out for awhile because, as was stated in the Race for Education letter, we will be making changes for the 2008-09 school year.  Tom will have a sign in sheet for all who help this weekend, Colleen will have it for Special lunch on May 16, Bruno will have one for Investment Party on May 18, and Deanna will have it for May 12 in the daytime and May 13 6-8 PM.  All these are the first opportunities for service time 2008-09. More information will follow.

If you are one of the families who have done over 100 hours of service, please send your name to the office.  Thank you.

Thank you to all who  participated in the Race for Education.  At the last count, we were over $67,000. .  The NO HOMEWORK pass will be used on Thursday May 8.  The No Uniform pass can be used on  Monday May 5 or Wednesday May 7, or Thursday May 8.

All tuition and service hour payments are overdue.  We have sent letters and reminders to families, and we have gotten no response from some.  Please read the Financial Policy Statement on page 22 of the handbook and the paragraph above it too.

We have not used all our snow days this year so school will close on Friday June 6.  June 4, 5, and 6 will be half days.  There will be Extended Day on Wed. June 4 and Thursday June 5 but there will be NO Extended Day on Friday in the afternoon June 6.  There will be Extended Day each morning through June 6.

For those who like to plan ahead, I want to pass on information that we received from the archdiocese about next year dates.  October 6 and October 7 will be archdiocesan professional days and schools will be closed.  Labor Day is early this year, September 1, so school will open for all students on Wed. Sept. 3.   October 16-18 is Harvest Festival.  We are always in need of volunteers on Thursday AM and PM (Oct. 16) for the children's day at HF so maybe with advance notice some parents could make arrangements to be there for your service hours.

Don't forget to use our School ID# 70047107 when shopping at Office Depot.  We receive 5% back to school.

Please check the school calendar on our web page for school times and Extended Day time.

Please park on St. Ursula lot first and the lower part of St. John's lot by the brick house whenever you come to school in the evening or for volunteer time between 8:30 and 11:25.  If you are volunteering in the afternoon park your car in the dismissal line.
