 On Wednesday September 3rd, the registration pages for the conference will become active and all conference participants can make their program selections.
bullet Registration will remain open from Wednesday September 3rd-Friday September 12th at 3:00pm.
bullet Those who register will receive confirmation of their program selections via email.
bullet Both scheduled luncheons, the Presidents and Principals as well as the Secondary Teachers interested in the Secondary Meet and Eat topic discussions, require registration. Please assist us with obtaining an accurate count by completing the appropriate registration form.
bullet Please pay particular attention to the times listed for each session; there are a few sessions that last two hours. Cornerstone sessions are 75 minutes and most workshops 45 minutes in length.
bullet In order to accommodate all registrants for specific sessions, room assignments will be made and posted following registration.

Special Needs Catholic Identity Leadership
J. Stuart Abion, Ph.D., is Associate Director of the CPS Institute in the Department of Psychiatry at the Massachusetts General Hospital and Co-Director of the Center for Collaborative Problem Solving where he specializes in the treatment of explosive, inflexible, easily frustrated children and adolescents and their families. He is also Assistant Professor in Psychiatry at Harvard Medical School.Dr. Ablon is co-author with Dr. Ross Greene of the forthcoming book, Treating Explosive Kids: The Collaborative Problem-Solving Approach. Drs. Greene and Ablon are also featured in the new DVD/video, Parenting the Explosive Child, that details the Collaborative Problem Solving approach.  The Explosive Child, has been featured on Dateline NBC, Good Morning America, The Early Show, and the Oprah Winfrey Show.

Ted Miles is a native of Baltimore, Maryland and has worked for CRS since July 2005 as the Religious Education Relationship Manager and co-coordinator of the agency's youth strategy program. His Jesuit influence led to a two year Jesuit Volunteer position in education and youth ministry in Belize and Guatemala, Central America.  His work includes the development of an urban immersion experience rooted in Catholic Social Teaching for the Archdiocese of Baltimore, presentation at numerous regional and national conferences, and international travel with the Archdiocese of Baltimore Haiti Project and Catholic Relief Services, including a Parish Social Ministry training in Moldova, Eastern Europe. The Archdiocese of Baltimore recently awarded Ted its highest honor, The Cardinal Sheehan Award, for his commitment to young people.

Vicki Lein, .is an award-winning international speaker, counselor, teacher, singer/songwriter, author, and humorist. Vicki has worked for over thirty years as a high school teacher, elementary school counselor, and Distinguished Educator for the Oregon Department of Education.  Vicki’s presentations are brain-compatible because they are interactive, fun, and full of research-based methods. Her practical, proven techniques help all students improve their behavior by inviting them to step up and take a positive leadership role. By inviting everyone to practice leading by example, Vicki teaches people how to create a “home court” environment, she establishes the safety needed for everyone to take risks and learn.

Technology Essential Strategies for Viability Curriculum & Assessment
Paul Barker has been Principal of The John Carroll School, a Catholic, independent, co-educational secondary school in Bel Air, Maryland, since 2001.  A native of New Zealand, Paul received his B.A. in English Language and Literature from Victoria University.  Since moving to the U.S. in 1987, he has received an M.A. in Liberal Arts from St. John’s College, and an M.A. in Educational Administration from Ursuline College.  He holds a State of Maryland teaching certificate in Administration and English and an Archdiocese of Baltimore Professional Certificate in Youth Ministry.  He is currently a doctoral candidate in Educational Leadership at the University of Pennsylvania.  Among accomplishments during his tenure at John Carroll, Paul has initiated a 1-to-1 Tablet PC computing program, more than doubled participation in AP courses, introduced a new model for faculty evaluation, and developed a senior capstone project.  Of particular interest to Paul is the evolving role of computer technology in instruction.  Away from school, Paul’s serves on the Board of St. Margaret School, Bel Air.  His recreational interests include playing golf and cricket, and coaching and refereeing rugby.

Dr. Ester Williams is a nationally known consultant who brings her unique style and humor to professional development seminars and keynote speeches.. Esther conducts training and speeches on a variety of topics including stress management, effective communication, dealing with difficult people, anger management, and crisis management. In all her programs, it is her goal to motivate her audiences to make positive changes in important areas of their lives, to develop quality relationships and to look for humor in difficult situations.  Esther received a Bachelors of Science degree and Masters of Counseling degree from Auburn University. She has 25 years experience in public education as a teacher and counselor. In 1999, after retiring from the Lee County, Alabama, public school system, established a private practice. Esther is author of Breaking Down the Wall of Anger and The Bully, The Bullied, and Beyond. Both books provide teachers with a student curriculum for teaching skills. Esther has presented seminars and keynote speeches throughout the country. She has a very common sense approach that teachers and administrators appreciate and has the ability to establish rapport with her audiences. Her presentations are high energy, educational, entertaining, and inspiring.

Nikki Newton has been an educator for the past 16 years, working in inner city schools on both the East and West coasts. Having spent several years as a bilingual teacher and staff developer, she has an extensive background in Sheltered Instruction and English Language Learner Strategies. Furthermore, she has worked with Heidi Hayes Jacobs in facilitating both the Curriculum Mapping and the Interdisciplinary Curriculum Institutes at Teachers College, Columbia University. Her work as an adjunct professor at a NY university, teaching elementary curriculum and math methods courses keeps her abreast of the latest educational theories. She has presented at several national and international conferences on education-- including being an invited speaker for the NEA on developing a meaningful, student centered, interdisciplinary social studies curriculum as well as working on a special interdisciplinary social studies curriculum for the AFT.
